Jonathan Promises: Nobody Can Break Nigeria

Bayelsa state governor Seriake Dickson presented to
Goodluck Jonathan the huge birthday card
He spoke while meeting with the Bayelsa State
governor, Sariake Dickson.
The President asked Nigerians to neglect the reports
by some Nigerians, threatening the unity of the
nation.
Stating that Nigeria has its challenges, he
guaranteed that it will surely overcome them.
He said: "Some people are making remarks that are
more or less treasonable, don't be worried, nobody
can upturn this country.
"If there are people making statements threatening
the survival of this country, especially some people
who probably have constitutional immunity and are
abusing that privilege, that is why most Nigerians
are saying that immunity clause should be removed
because some people don't merit it, since they
abuse it."
Speaking further Jonathan agreed with those
campaigning for the exclusion of immunity item
from the Nigeria's constitution, saying some people
do not value it.

The head of the country scowled at a situation
where those who enjoy immunity, the President,
Vice President, state governors and their deputies,
abuse the privilege by making statements he said
were capable of threatening the country's survival.
Jonathan repeated his position that despite the
challenges being faced by the country, Nigeria
would not collapse.
The president said though the road might be rough,
other nations had passed through such rough roads.
"We will surely overcome those challenges, and that
this country must move, this country must unite,"
he said.
Thanking his Bayelsa kinsmen for felicitating with
him, Jonathan said: "So today I'm here to serve
Nigeria and you are here to support me, to identify
with me as my people. If I'm here to serve this
country and you don't give me this support, of
course definitely people will not take me serious,
they will say even his people have rejected him."
Family members, friends and aides this morning
joined President Goodluck Jonathan to celebrate his
57th birthday.
The birthday was marked with a short Holy
Communion service inside the President's official
residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Jonathan has been President of Nigeria since 2010.
Prior to his role as President, he served as Governor
of Bayelsa State.
He declared his re-election bid for the coming
elections on November, 11th.
