Rape victim traps suspect, She ask her neighbour to call the cops

A 26-year-old
woman, who
cannot be
identified, was
offered
N3,000
(R2,000) to
drop rape
charges by a
suspected
rapist.
She told the
man to wait in her house while she bought a cool
drink so they could talk, but she locked him in and
ran to ask her neighbour to call the cops.
Police got there fast and arrested him.
It is alleged that on New Year's Day when the
woman from Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, was
waiting for her sister who was buying bread at a
nearby shop, the man attacked her.
"I didn't know the man. He greeted me and
grabbed my hand. I told him not to touch me, but
he slapped me and pulled me into his shack," she
said.
He allegedly slapped her and threatened her with a
knife before raping her four times.
When her sister came out of the shop, she was told
by a hawker that a man had dragged her sister into
his shack.
The sister was also slapped when she entered the
shack and the man fled.
The sisters laid complaints with the police.
The suspect was on the run until he allegedly
approached the victim's sister on the street,
offering her money if they dropped the charges.
She told him to arrange a meeting with her sister.
He decided to approach the woman he had
allegedly raped in her yard.
"Seeing him and listening to his story that he was
willing to pay money to bribe me just made me
smile," said the victim.
That was when she trapped him with her trick.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Daniel
Mavimbela said: "A man aged 30 was arrested on
Tuesday night and was charged with rape.
"The suspect appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates
Court yesterday."
