Why Obasanjo & IBB Were Absent At Jonathan 2nd Term Declaration In Abuja

To confirm what he told journalists few weeks ago in
Lagos, Obasanjo has showed his disapproval
of President Goodluck Jonathan's 2nd term ambition
by shunning the event.
Former Presidents Ibrahim Babangida and Obasanjo
are 2 top PDP members who shunned what sources
called Jonathan's self-centered ambition to put
Nigeria under 4 more years of pressure.
In a recent interview, Obasanjo said Jonathan agreed
with PDP not to run for reelection in 2011 and that he
vowed to only be in office for one term.
Meanwhile, there were mixed reactions to the
President's self assessment at his declaration for the
2015 election.
Jonathan, who admitted that the Boko Haram issue
had been a big challenge to his administration, listed
his achievements in various sectors.
A former chairman of the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian
Bar Association, Mr. Monday Ubani, said Nigerians
could not be carried away by the list of achievements
reeled out by the President.
Ubani said, "Nigerians are already used to this road;
the road of leaders coming out to tell Nigerians about
their achievements that are not seen. Leaders at
state and local government levels during the period
of elections come out to say a lot of things.
"We are used to it but we are not carried away by
their claims."
Jonathan was urged to mourn the 48 students killed
by Boko Haram in Yobe on Monday before making his
declaration but he ignored all the requests instead he
went ahead to conduct the rally at the Eagle Square
in Abuja on Tuesday.
The same thing happened when Boko Haram
kidnapped over 200 school girls in Borno state few
months ago.
Oga on top didn't mourn them, instead he went
about with his political campaign in Kano where he
was spotted jubilating on stage.
