A man is currently in Psychiatric ward following a
violent attack on his neighbour in Surulere Lagos.
According to residents of 20 Oshinfowokan street in
Ehin Iga area of Itire, a man identified as Sunday
Mitten who works as dry cleaner suddenly ran mad
on Sunday and wounded his wife before stabbing a
neighbour to death.
The suspect who hails from Cross Rivers State
stabbed one Sunday George in the chest 7 times
when the spirit of insanity fell on him.
Before help could arrive, he had stabbed George to
death.
He then proceeded to stab 2 other neighbours during
the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack happened
around 1:30am early Sunday morning.
Sunday Mitten who occupies a room at the boy's
quarters of the building suddenly got up around
1:30, stripped himself naked and attempted to move
out of his room.
His wife who tried to stop him was stabbed twice, but
escaped and shouted for help. This attracted
neighbours including the deceased, George, who
equally hails from Cross River State.
When it became obvious that Mitten had gone
insane, everyone ran for their dear lives.
Further bloodshed was prevented by the timely
intervention of the Vigilante group in the area who
bundled the suspect to the police station.
The victims are currently receiving treatment in the
hospital. The corpse of the deceased had been
deposited at a mortuary in the area.
