The Voters' Awareness Initiative (VAI) on
Wednesday complained about the manner in
which the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) conducted the distribution
of the permanent voter cards (PVC) and the
continuous voter register (CVR) across the
country, especially in Lagos State.
Mr. Wale Ogunade, President of the group who
complained about the physical and mental
exhaustion the electoral body subjected the people
of Nigeria to during the exercise, said INEC's
attitude may discourage Nigerians from voting in
the 2015 elections .
Ogunade complained that INEC could not
successfully distribute the PVCs across the local
government areas in Lagos State despite having
four years to prepare for the exercise.
"We have observed with great dissatisfaction the
shoddy performance of INEC in the distribution of
the permanent voter card that was registered and
issued four years ago. So we wonder what has kept
these cards in their offices for the past four years"
he said.
