PDP prepared for total victory in Ondo-Jimoh Ibrahim

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo
State yesterday conducted its primary
election to pick candidates for the House of
Representatives ahead of the 2015 general
election.

Rationalising the exercise which attracted a
huge turn-out of party delegates, a chieftain
of the party in the state, Barrister Jimoh
Ibrahim, CFR, said it was obvious the PDP was
prepared for massive victory in the 2015
elections which will only hold in Ondo State
for the national and state legislative houses.

Addressing Journalists at Igbotako after the
exercise, Barrister Ibrahim expressed
optimism that the candidates would emerge
victorious in the forthcoming election.

He, however, added that the best way to
resolve the crisis rocking the party in the
state was the national leader of the party to
allow the judiciary to resolve all the pending
court cases of the party.

The party leader noted, "The primaries
conducted by Governor Mimiko's faction were
illegal and will not stand test of time."

He disclosed that the leadership of the party
in the state had met and unanimously agreed
to challenge the emergence of Clement
Faboyede as chairman of the party in the
state in the court of law.

According to him, the leadership of the party
in the state have appointed Dr. Olu ogunye as
the chairman of the party to replace Mr.
Ebenezer Alabi who resigned last week.

The primary election which was conducted in
the nine federal constituencies witnessed the
presence of INEC officials, security personnel
and returning officers at the chosen venues
for the election.

Our correspondent who monitored the
exercise reports that the Dr. Olu Ogunye-led
executive's aspirants swept the seats in all
the nine federal Constituencies.

In Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency, the
incumbent, Hon Albert Akintoye was returned
by the party delegates in a landslide victory.
At Odigbo/Ileoluji-Okeigbo, Mrs Yejide
Adeyanju was also picked.

At the primaries held for the Akure South/
Akure North at Helena Hotel, Akure, a former
chairman of the Akure South Local
Government. Adedayo Omolafe emerged as
winner.

Speaking after the primaries, Omolafe
described the process leading to his
emergence as peaceful, explaining that 69 of
the 82 delegates that showed up for the
primary election voted in his favour.

He said, "The exercise went on smoothly, the
security agents from the DSS were there,
INEC officials too and the police, because we
understand that some people were planning
to disrupt the process and attack us but at
the end of the day, things went on smoothly.

He, however, pointed that the resignation of
Alabi did not affect the primaries, adding that
the chairmen of the party across the wards
and local government still controlled the
affairs of the party at the ward and local
government levels.
