John Oyegun, National Chairman of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), said it was a
disgrace for the Nigerian authorities to
celebrate the recapture of Chibok, Borno
State.
It would be recalled that November 16 it was
reported that the military regained control over
Chibok, seized last week by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to Premium Times, Oyegun lamented that
insurgents failed to protect the town.
"Boko Haram drove you out of Chibok, and you
manage to reinforce and come back to retake it and
you are celebrating? What is there to celebrate?"
It is worth mentioning that Borno State is currently
under emergency rule. It has been recently made
known that the Federal Government decided to
extend the period of heavy military presence in the
3 states. The move triggered controversial reactions,
with many saying that military failed to enable the
residents' safety.
