President Jonathan’s Uncle Kidnapped In Otuoke Bayelsa State: Chief Inengite Nitabai Abducted

The home village of President Goodluck Jonathan is
currently mourning after the abduction of a popular
chief in the area.
The man in question, Chief Inengite Nitabai was
said to be an uncle to the President.
He was kidnapped on Sunday by some masked
gunmen after returning from a function.
According to Otuoke residents, Chief Nitabai was
waiting outside his home when the gunmen who
placed him on surveillance snatched him.
65-year-old Nitabai who was said to have just
returned from an outing involving a property he sold
few years back was abducted in front of his home in
Otuoke, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa.
The heavily armed kidnappers numbered about 10
reportedly took the chief away in his vehicle last
night.
A security source who requested anonymity said
Chief Nitabai's vehicle was found abandoned at
Onuegbum creek indicating that the kidnappers have
made away with their victim through the creeks.
The motive behind President Jonathan's uncle
kidnap is still unknown.
A source from Otuoke said the abduction is likely
related to a piece of land belonging to the victim that
was sold by some youths in Otuoke.
As we speak, the community is under tight security.
Bayelsa state police spokesperson who confirmed the
incident said a suspect had been arrested in
connection with the abduction.
Mr Alex Akhigbe also confirmed the recovery of the
vehicle used for the kidnap.
"Investigation is in progress to unmask the
kidnappers and rescue the victim," he said.
President Goodluck Jonathan is yet to make an
official statement on his uncle's kidnap.
