Former PDP chairman Bamanga Tukur appointed Chairman Railway Corporation

Less than a
week after
Alhaji Bamanga Tukur resigned as chairman of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President
Goodluck Jonathan has appointed him as the
chairman of the board of the Nigerian Railway
Corporation (NRC).
A terse statement issued by Sam Nwaobasi,
spokesman of the Secretary to the Government of
the Federation Anyim Pius Anyim said President
Jonathan has approved the appointment.
It also said Dr. Ghaji Ismaila Bello has been
appointed Director General of the National
Population Commission (NPC).
Nwaobasi added that the appointments take effect
from January 8th, 2014.
At the heat of the pressure on Bamanga Tukur to
resign from his position as chairman of the PDP last
week, media report had it that Jonathan promised
Tukur a tougher job when he resigns.
Former governor of Bauchi state, Ahmed Adamu
Muazu was on Monday selected as the new
chairman of the party.
