OJB Jezreel Blasts Dbanj For Not Donating For His Surgery

Music producer OJB Jezreel who recently returned to
Nigeria after kidney transplant surgery in India has
opened up on his relationship with D'banj and how
Nigerian celebrities used his condition as a
marketing avenue.
In a recent interview hear what OJB said about
D'banj:
The most disappointing one for me is D'banj because
he passed through my hands. He was trained under
my tutelage. That is offensive. I don't care if you're
with Kanye West or not. You can't forget your root. I
won't call anybody else's name but I will call his
because it hurts. His own hurts very deep. And he
never tried to reach out to me. It's not like we parted
on fighting terms."
"He told me he had to go to London and he went. And
when he came back, it was Don Jazzy, and I said
okay, that's fine. And what he did worked and I'm
very proud of him. He should have come out to say
no, I don't know why you people are saying all these.
I didn't give OJB N7million, maybe a part of him felt
embarrassed because at the end of the day, really,
are you not supposed to do something?"
The music producer also revealed how many cheques
he received from celebrities all over Nigeria bounced
back.
"When P-Square gave me N5million cheque,
everybody started treating it as a competition. They
were like, they brought N5m. I want to show that I
can do more, or equal it. So they will come to my
house, some will drop N2m, N1m. You say thank you,
they take pictures and go away. Then you drop the
cheque in your account and you see that almost
N4/5million is being returned back to you that it
didn't clear. You call them and tell them and they tell
you they are coming but they haven't picked the
cheques till now.
"The shocking ones are not even the bounced
cheques. It's the ones that when they are coming to
meet you in the house to give you money, they come
with a whole camera crew. Then, they will say I'm
donating one million naira to you and the cameras
start recording and maybe the guy's tape stops, and
he says let's take that again."
During OJB's ailing period, D'banj reportedly bought
a 25 million naira suit.
Nigerian celebrities love show off. Any slight
contribution they make into the society must be
noticed…. Na wa o.

Man Grabs Gun Instead Of Wallet, Shoots Himself In The Bum

This Thursday,
a man at the
store in Brighton, Mich., reportedly reached for his
wallet and accidentally grabbed his gun.
The 40-caliber Glock went off, and the 32-year-old
ended up shooting himself in the rear end.
As s result of the accident, the man, whose name
was not revealed, was treated for minor injuries at
a nearby hospital.
He had a concealed pistol license, and no charges
were expected to be filed, the local radio station
reports.
Interestingly, it is not the first time the shopper
hits bottom in public.
last year, a woman was shot in the leg from inside
her purse – even though she wasn't carrying a gun.
She was treated for minor injuries after a bullet
exploded in her bag and she was "shot" by the
bullet casing.

Forget National Confab – Nyako Urges Jonathan

Governor
Murtala Nyako
of Adamawa State, yesterday, asked President
Goodluck Jonathan to perish the thought of
national conference and pay more attention to
giving Nigerians good governance.
Nyako, who spoke to Vanguard in an interview, said
the planned confab amounted to waste of time and
scare resources, which could have been used to
provide social amenities.
According to the governor, Nigerians need concrete
development projects that could enhance their life
expectancy and not talk shops that add no real
value to life.
The governor pointed out that the country also
needed serious development plans backed by an
implementable time frame and the political will to
move the nation forward.
Nyako, who is the second governor to oppose the
impending confab, said his Ebonyi State
counterpart, Chief Martins Elechi, who was the first
to kick against the conference, was absolutely right
and should be commen-ded for his forthrightness.
Nyako said:"Governor Elechi is absolutely right.
What we need now is a development programme
and not national conference or dialogue.
"We need critical infrastructure, we need ports and
railway system, functional and compulsory
education for Nigerians and not talk shops that
cannot take us to anywhere.
"We need primary schools that can be described as
the best in the world. We do not need too much
grammar about develo-ping Nigeria, but concrete
efforts and the political will by the government to
translate talks into reality for the overall benefit of
Nigerians."

Suicide bomber kills 14 people aboard an electric bus in southern Russian city of Volgograd

MOSCOW (AP)
— A suicide
bomber killed 14 people aboard an electric bus in
the southern Russian city of Volgograd during the
Monday morning rush hour, and authorities believe
it was the work of the same group that set off a
bomb at the railway station a day earlier.
Together more than 30 people were killed in the
explosions, putting the city of one million on edge
and highlighting the terrorist threat Russia is
facing as it prepares to host February's Winter
Games in Sochi, President Vladimir Putin's pet
project. While terrorists may find it hard to get to
the tightly guarded Olympic facilities, the
bombings have shown they can hit civilian targets
elsewhere in Russia with shocking ease.
Volgograd, located about 650 kilometers (400
miles) northeast of Sochi, serves as a key transport
hub for southern Russia, with numerous bus routes
linking it to volatile provinces in Russia's North
Caucasus, where insurgents have been seeking an
Islamic state.
Vladimir Markin, the spokesman for Russia's main
investigative agency, said Monday's explosion
involved a bomb similar to the one used in
Sunday's attack at the city's main railway station.
"That confirms the investigators' version that the
two terror attacks were linked," Markin said in a
statement. "They could have been prepared in one
place."
Markin said a suicide attacker was responsible for
the bus explosion, reversing an earlier official
statement that the blast was caused by a bomb left
in the vehicle's passenger area. At least 14 people
were killed and nearly 30 were wounded, according
to public health officials.
Officials did not name names and no one has
claimed responsibility for either bombing, but they
came several months after Chechen rebel leader
Doku Umarov threatened new attacks against
civilian targets in Russia, including the Olympics in
Sochi.
Suicide bombings and other terror attacks have
rocked Russia for years, but most recently have
been confined to the North Caucasus region. The
successive attacks in Volgograd signaled that
militants may be using the transportation hub as a
renewed way of showing their reach outside their
restive region.
The city, formerly called Stalingrad, also serves as
an important symbol of Russian pride because of a
historic World War II battle in which the Soviets
turned the tide against the Nazis.
"Volgograd, a symbol of Russia's suffering and
victory in World War II, has been singled out by the
terrorist leaders precisely because of its status in
people's minds," Dmitry Trenin, the head of the
Carnegie Endowment's Moscow office, said in a
commentary posted on the organization's website.
Monday's explosion ripped away much of the bus's
exterior and shattered windows in nearby
buildings. It virtually paralyzed public transport in
the city, forcing many residents to walk long
distances to get to work.
Russian authorities have been slow to introduce
stringent security checks on bus routes, making
them the transport of choice for terrorists in the
region. A few months ago authorities introduced a
requirement for intercity bus passengers to
produce identification when buying tickets, like rail
or air passengers, but procedures have remained
lax and some of the routes aren't controlled.
Even tight railway security is sometimes not
enough. In Sunday's suicide bombing the attacker
detonated in the crowd in front of the station's
metal detectors.
A suicide bus bombing in Volgograd in October
killed six people. On Friday, three people were
killed when an explosives-rigged car blew up in the
city of Pyatigorsk, the center of a federal
administrative district created to oversee Kremlin
efforts to stabilize the North Caucasus region.
In Sunday's railroad station blast, the bomber
detonated explosives just beyond the station's
main entrance when a police sergeant became
suspicious and rushed forward, officials said. The
officer was killed by the blast, and several other
policemen were among some 40 people wounded.
The Interior Ministry ordered police to beef up
patrols at railway stations and other transport
facilities across Russia. Putin on Monday
summoned the chief of the main KGB successor
agency and the interior minister to discuss the
situation, and sent the former to Volgograd to
oversee the probe.
Russia in past years has seen a series of terror
attacks on buses, trains and airplanes, some
carried out by suicide bombers.
Twin bombings on the Moscow subway in March
2010 by female suicide bombers killed 40 people
and wounded more than 120. In January 2011, a
male suicide bomber struck Moscow's Domodedovo
Airport, killing 37 people and injuring more than
180.
Umarov, who had claimed responsibility for the
2010 and 2011 bombings, ordered a halt to attacks
on civilian targets during the mass street protests
against Putin in the winter of 2011-12. He reversed
that order in July, urging his men to "do their
utmost to derail" the Sochi Olympics, which he
described as "satanic dances on the bones of our
ancestors."
The International Olympics Committee expressed
its condolences over Sunday's bombing in
Volgograd, but said it was confident of Russia's
ability to protect the Games.
Russian Olympic Committee chief Alexander
Zhukov said Monday there was no need to take any
extra steps to secure Sochi in the wake of the
Volgograd bombings, as "everything necessary
already has been done."
Russian authorities have introduced some of the
most extensive identity checks and sweeping
security measures ever seen at an international
sports event.
Anyone wanting to attend the games that open on
Feb. 7 will have to buy a ticket online from the
organizers and obtain a "spectator pass" for
access. Doing so will require providing passport
details and contacts that will allow the authorities
to screen all visitors and check their identities upon
arrival.
The security zone created around Sochi stretches
approximately 100 kilometers (60 miles) along the
Black Sea coast and up to 40 kilometers (25 miles)
inland. Russian forces include special troops to
patrol the forested mountains flanking the resort,
drones to keep constant watch over Olympic
facilities and speed boats to patrol the coast.
The security plan includes a ban on cars from
outside the zone from a month before the games
begin until a month after they end.

India Police Arrest 12 Men Over Double Gang RaPe

Twelve men,
including a
juvenile, have been arrested in connection with the
double gang r*pe of a young woman in southern
India, police said Saturday.
The 21-year-old woman was visiting friends in the
Karaikal port area of Puducherry state when the
incident took place on Christmas Eve, police senior
superintendent Monika Bharadwaj told DPA.
The woman was waiting outside her friend's house
alone when three men picked her up and she was
assaulted by one member of the group, Bharadwaj
said.
Her friends managed to rescue her and while they
were returning to their friend's place another gang
of seven men accosted them and abducted and
gang r*ped her, Bharadwaj said.
"The woman has said she was r*ped six times. We
have arrested all the men we suspect of being
involved and two male friends accompanying her,
including a juvenile, to ascertain what exactly
happened and who was involved in defiling her,"
Bharadwaj said.
The police officer said 10 men were arrested a day
after the incident while the other two were arrested
on Thursday and Friday.
They have been remanded in custody for a
fortnight and are being questioned.
The young woman is married but is believed to be
separated from her husband, police said.
"We have arrested the victim's friends as it is
surprising that they did not alert the police after
the first incident," Bharadwaj said.
The woman is being treated in a hospital and is in
stable condition.
The double gang r*pe came days after India
marked the first anniversary of the fatal gang r*pe
of a 23-year-old woman in Delhi in December 2012.
The crime sparked protests within the country and
international outrage, prompting the government
to amend laws to apply stricter punishments for
r*pe.

Cairo al-Azhar campus torched amid Egypt protests

A student has been killed in Egypt as
supporters of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood
clashed with police and university buildings
were set on fire.
State TV blamed protesters for the fire at al-Azhar
University's business faculty, where exams had to be
postponed, and the agriculture faculty.
The Brotherhood said police were "fabricating" the
charges.
The crackdown on the group began when President
Mohammed Morsi, who belongs to it, was deposed by
the army in July.
The campus fires had been brought under control by
Saturday afternoon, and some 60 people had been
arrested, reports said.
The Brotherhood, which had been banned since
September from all activity, was declared a terrorist
group on Wednesday following a suicide bombing of
a police headquarters in the Nile Delta.
The government said the Brotherhood was behind
the attack - a charge it strongly denied.
It is the latest measure taken against the group,
which is being targeted by the military-backed
interim government. Thousands of Brotherhood
members, including its leadership, have been
arrested and many put on trial.
Members were rounded up on Thursday after a bomb
hit a bus in Cairo, injuring five people.
Three people died on Friday as police fought
Brotherhood supporters in Cairo, southern Minya and
the Nile Delta.
US Secretary of State John Kerry called his Egyptian
counterpart to "express concern" about the recent
waves of arrests and called for an "inclusive political
process", state department spokeswoman Jen Psaki
said.
Al-Azhar, one of the main centres of Sunni Muslim
learning, has been the scene of repeated clashes
between Islamist students and police in recent
months.
Mr Morsi's government - the first to be
democratically elected in Egypt - was toppled on 3
July following widespread anti-Brotherhood
demonstrations.
The ousted president was arrested and faces several
criminal charges relating to his time in office.
His trial opened in November but has been adjourned
until 8 January.
Earlier this week, Egyptian police arrested Hisham
Qandil, who became Egypt's youngest prime minister
since 1954 in August 2012.
He was caught in a mountainous area with
smugglers trying to flee to Sudan, officials said.
Al-Azhar, one of the main centres of Sunni Muslim
learning, has seen repeated clashes between
students and police
At least three people died as Muslim Brotherhood
supporters clashed with police across Egypt on
Friday
Riot police fired tear gas in an attempt to disperse
the protesters
Supporters of the police also clashed with pro-
Brotherhood students
Mr Qandil was sentenced to a year in prison while in
office for not carrying out a court ruling to
renationalise a company that was privatised in 1996.
Although not a member of the Brotherhood or any
other Islamist political organisation, he represented
an alliance of pro-Morsi Islamist groups in meetings
with European Union mediators, who tried to
persuade the military-installed interim government
to launch a fully inclusive transition process that
included the Muslim Brotherhood.
The 85-year-old Islamist movement was banned by
Egypt's military rulers in 1954, but registered an
NGO called the Muslim Brotherhood Association in
March this year in response to a court case bought by
opponents who contested its legal status.
The Brotherhood also has a political wing, the
Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), which was set up in
2011 as a "non-theocratic" group after the uprising
that forced President Hosni Mubarak from power.
Following Mr Morsi's overthrow and the suspension of
the Islamist-friendly 2012 constitution, the Cairo
administrative court and the social solidarity ministry
were tasked with reviewing the Brotherhood's legal
status.
In September, a ruling by the Cairo Court for Urgent
Matters banned the Brotherhood itself, the NGO, as
well as "any institution derived from or belonging to
the Brotherhood" or "receiving financial support from
it".

South Sudan: Thousands of pro-rebel youths march on Bor

Government troops are currently in control of Bor,
the capital of Jonglei state they had taken from the
rebels.
The government has offered to cease hostilities, but
an army spokesman told the BBC that his forces were
still battling over oilfields in the north.
More than 121,600 have fled their homes and at
least 1,000 people killed since fighting broke out
earlier this month.
What began as a power struggle between Mr Machar
and President Salva Kiir has taken on overtones of a
tribal conflict, with the Dinka, to which Mr Kiir
belongs, pitted against the Nuer, from which Mr
Machar hails.
Tens of thousands of civilians have sought refugee in
UN camps and reinforcements have been arriving to
give them extra protection.
The youths now marching on the town are part of an
ethnic Nuer militia known as the White Army,
because of the white ash they put on their skin to
protect them from insects.
Aid agencies the humanitarian need created
by the conflict is increasing
'No preconditions'
Mr Machar was deputy president until Mr Kiir sacked
him in July.
Earlier this month fighting broke out between rival
army factions after Mr Kiir accused Mr Machar of
trying to unseat him in a coup.
Mr Machar told the BBC on Friday that his forces
were in control of the whole of the states of Jonglei
and Unity, apart from the town of Bor.
He said he had a negotiating team ready but any
ceasefire had to be serious, credible and properly
monitored.
He called for the release of all 11 detainees accused
of being co-conspirators in the coup plan, a key rebel
condition for any negotiations.
Mr Kiir's spokesman Ateny Wek Ateng told the BBC
that Mr Kiir would not accept any preconditions for a
ceasefire.
"If Machar said he will not cease the hostilities, then
he will of course be attacking our positions and our
soldiers have the right to defend themselves," Mr
Wek Ateng said.
He added that Mr Kiir had tried to avoid the conflict
taking over tribal overtones, and blamed Mr Machar
for the increased tension between the two ethnic
groups.
Sudan's arid north is mainly home to Arabic-
speaking Muslims. But in South Sudan there
is no dominant culture. The Dinkas and the
Nuers are the largest of more than 200
ethnic groups, each with its own languages
and traditional beliefs, alongside Christianity
and Islam.
Both Sudan and the South are reliant on oil
revenue, which accounts for 98% of South
Sudan's budget. They have fiercely
disagreed over how to divide the oil wealth
of the former united state - at one time
production was shutdown for more than a
year. Some 75% of the oil lies in the South
but all the pipelines run north
The two Sudans are very different
geographically. The great divide is visible
even from space, as this Nasa satellite image
shows. The northern states are a blanket of
desert, broken only by the fertile Nile
corridor. South Sudan is covered by green
swathes of grassland, swamps and tropical
forest.
After gaining independence in 2011, South
Sudan is the world's newest country - and
one of its poorest. Figures from 2010 show
some 69% of households now have access to
clean water - up from 48% in 2006. However,
just 2% of households have water on the
premises.
Just 29% of children attend primary school in
South Sudan - however this is also an
improvement on the 16% recorded in 2006.
About 32% of primary-age boys attend, while
just 25% of girls do. Overall, 64% of children
who begin primary school reach the last
grade.
Almost 28% of children under the age of five
in South Sudan are moderately or severely
underweight - this compares with the 33%
recorded in 2006. Unity state has the highest
proportion of children suffering
malnourishment (46%), while Central
Equatoria has the lowest (17%).

Gang war in Brazil's Pedrinhas jail kills 59 in 2013

Fifty-nine inmates
have been killed
in a single
northern Brazilian
prison this year,
according to a
judicial report.
Video taken inside
the Pedrinhas prison in Sao Luis also shows the
torture of one inmate at the hands of others - and
cases of beheadings.
The district judge who wrote the report said the
video was the "most barbarous scene" he had ever
witnessed.
Brazil has the world's fourth largest prison
population with half a million inmates occupying
spaces for 300,000.
The report contains details of sexual relations
between prisoners taking place in open spaces,
horrific scenes of torture and at least 59 deaths,
including the beheading of three prisoners, in the
last year.
Across the country, many poorly resourced jails are,
in effect, run by powerful crime gangs and the
government is looking again at a greater role for
privately run prisons, says the BBC's Wyre Davies in
Rio de Janeiro.
A judicial report into a prison in the northern
Brazilian state of Maranhao has exposed some
shocking conditions of torture, sexual abuse and
murder.
The report, now handed over to Brazil's Supreme
Court, describes a desperately overcrowded facility
where the prison authorities have lost control and
where punishment or retribution is handed-out on a
daily basis by gangs. One video, obtained by a
newspaper shows the slow torture of one inmate
until he dies.
Pedrinhas, in the state of Maranhao, is notorious for
its gang warfare; fighting between inmates in
October left 13 dead and 30 injured.
Brazil's Minister of Justice, Jose Eduardo Cardozo,
said last year that Brazil had "a medieval prison
system, which not only violates human rights [but]
does not allow for the most important element of a
penal sanction, which is social reintegration".
Officials say that despite building new prisons they
have not been able to keep pace with the increasing
number of detainees, making it hard for them to
improve conditions within the jails.

Icebreaker trying to reach trapped ship in Antarctica also stonewalled by ice

A Chinese ship trying to reach a trapped
expedition vessel in Antarctica has now become
hampered by ice itself.
The Chinese icebreaker Xue Long, or Snow
Dragon, was just six nautical miles away from the
Russian-flagged vessel when it became
obstructed by heavy ice. Even the icebreaker
could not break through the floe, the Australian
Maritime Safety Authority said Saturday.
"We have been waiting for better weather and ice
conditions since last night," Zhao Yanping, second
captain of the Xue Long, told CNN. "Xue Long is
not moving forward but we're not stuck."
The Chinese crew was hoping a French icebreaker
that was also en route would be able to assist. But
by midday Saturday, the Australian maritime
authority called off the French ship's mission.
But AMSA said another icebreaker, the Australian
Aurora Australis ship, is still en route and is
expected to arrive late Sunday.
The rescue icebreakers were battling the planet's
coldest environment in trying to reach the
stranded Russian ship MV Akademik Shokalskiy,
whose 74 researchers, crew and tourists remained
in good condition despite being at a frozen
standstill since Monday.
It all shows that some lands -- especially
the ends of the Earth -- may never be
tamed.
The Russian expedition ship is carrying
scientists and passengers led by an
Australian climate change professor. But
they may have to wait another day or two to be
freed, said Capt. Wang Jiangzhong of the Snow
Dragon.
"Right now we are waiting for winds to blow ice
away so we can move closer," Wang said. "The
current ice condition is exceeding our capabilities
to break through further."
The captain also acknowledged his ship may need
help from the other icebreakers headed to the
area if conditions deteriorate.
"We are in continual communication with the
(stranded) ship," he said in a satellite phone call
with CNN. "I think it's at least a form of emotional
relief for them to know we are nearby to help. We
know that they (passengers) are all doing well on
that ship."
The Snow Dragon has ample supplies of water,
food and medicine -- even a helicopter -- if the ice-
bound Shokalskiy needed them, said Zhu Li, chief
officer of the Chinese ship.
Meanwhile, spirits were high Friday aboard the
Akademik Shokalskiy.
"The vessel is fine, it's safe and everyone on board
is very well," expedition leader Chris Turney, a
professor of climate change at University of New
South Wales in Australia told CNN. "Morale is
really high."
It got stuck in the ice on Monday night -- 15 days
after setting out on the second leg of its research
trip.
According to Turney, the ship was surrounded by
ice up to nearly 10 feet (3 meters) thick. It was
about 100 nautical miles east of the French base
Dumont D'Urville, about 1,500 nautical miles
south of Hobart, Tasmania.
On Christmas morning, the ship sent a satellite
distress signal after conditions failed to clear.
The crew had a "great Christmas" despite their
situation, Turney told CNN. He said crew members
have used the delay to get more work done.
"We've just kept the team busy," he said.
The expedition is trying to update scientific
measurements taken by an Australian expedition
led by Douglas Mawson that set out in 1911.
The expedition to gauge the effects of climate
change on the region began November 27. The
second, and current leg of the trip, started
December 8 and was scheduled to conclude with a
return to New Zealand on January 4.
Turney said the ship should still be back in New
Zealand on time.

2014: Why Nigeria must pray for three days – Prophet Ayodele

Before the airplane mishap that involved Sosoliso
and Bellview Airlines in 2005, Prophet Babatunde
Ayodele, Founder/Spiritual Head of Inri Evangelical
Church, Lagos, warned the aviation sector but was
unheeded. Now, while everyone looks forward to
raising the curtain on 2014 in a couple of days,
Ayodele has again reeled out predictions ahead of
2014, imploring Nigeria to take cover in prayers.
Economy
Concerning the year 2014, I will advise every
Nigerian to take time and be prayerful for the country
and for themselves from the 1st to 3rd of January,
2014. This is for God to prevent imminent dangers
ahead of the nation and economy. Let us take it from
here. I don't see anything happening in the Nigerian
economy. I see debts everywhere- our crude oil,
foreign reserve, and all.
States will be in debt, the Federal Government will be
in debt and Nigeria will be planning to go borrow
money. So, the government has to be very careful
not to be grinded by these debts. Prices of food will
increase drastically and flour will be scarce and very
expensive. Corruption too will be more prevalent
because this government lacks the power to fight it.
Fighting oil theft will also pose a major challenge and
Nigeria will beg America to support her in the fight.
The price of petroleum will increase as well.
There will be too much of troubles concerning
kerosene. Sea pirates will dominate the waterways
and the African Union, AU, will form a common
security to monitor our seaways. Various
organisations such as the Natural Gas Senior Staff
Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, and The National
Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers,
NUPENG, will be embarking on industrial action
almost at the same time. Again, power supply will be
unstable until 2015, 2016. I also see ocean surge in
Lagos. Sponsors of Boko Haram will be exposed as
well. Very importantly, let us be very watchful so we
don't have any border crisis.
*Primate Babatunde Ayodele
Polity
Like I've always said, President Goodluck Jonathan's
second term is dicey. He will start some political
abracadabra in order to gain his second term which
will be characterised by so much of negotiations. He
will have to cajole and beg a lot of people; he will also
beg Obasanjo. What Nigerians see now is only a tip of
the iceberg of the clash that will come between
Obasanjo and Jonathan.
In the process of Jonathan's negotiations, the offices
of the Vice President, the Chief of Staff and the
Secretary to the Federal Government will be affected.
When he eventually succeeds through negotiation,
some of these governors who moved to the All
Progressive Congress, APC, will return back to the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Tukur will be
removed.
At the same time, I want to tell you that when
Jonathan eventually gets his second term, there will
be crisis. Also, another person will be shopped by the
PDP to take over from Jonathan, but like I said,
through negotiation and begging, he will get the
second term. Jonathan might be the last president of
PDP to rule this country, anyway. He also has to be
prayerful and watchful so he doesn't lose his wife,
the First Lady of the country. I also see shake-up in
the cabinet and ministers being removed and
replaced. The Ministers of Petroleum and Aviation will
also be seriously probed. Some people might not like
theses prophecies, but that is not my problem
because I am speaking as God has directed me.
Lagos politics
An unknown man will rule Lagos State. Nationally,
APC has accommodated traitors and betrayals. It is
not yet time for the party to rule this country.
However, if they really want to rule, they have to
struggle and pray very well to get the right
candidate. They must be watchful so that their party
is not used for negotiation
Sports, aviation, climate
Nigeria will try their best in the World Cup but I do
not see them in the semi-final or final. Let us be very
watchful in the aviation sector so that pilots will not
go on strike. Also, there will be air turbulence in
some of our airports such as in Lagos and Abuja. We
also must be watchful so that there won't be any air
crash. I however see reforms in the aviation
sector.Let us pray very well so that this growing
climatic condition will also not cause mourning for
this country.

Bad Leaders, Reason Nigeria’s Economy Is Static 53 Years After Independence

What many opulent Nigerians term as leadership is
the exhibition of their exotic cars, power bikes,
mansions, companies, pictures from foreign lands
they went for holidays, their glowing wives,
husbands, children and concubines. They show-off
these on the internet, newspapers, TV and, make
commentaries on the radio for self-exaltation. They
see leadership as titles and not, how many of their
loved ones and followership they have positively
influenced or would do. They see their gallery of
wealth as the influence they are giving to those who
look up to them. Since the wealthy in the society see
these things as leadership, there has been
tremendous leadership shortage in the country.
Because of this type of mindset to leadership, the
consequences are where we are at present: virtually
everybody is shortcutting what used to be the
gradual process of living to attain a height of
financial wealth. While many are doing this, they do
not know that they are like those who ignorantly use
pills to reduce weight, oblivious that they are digging
for more danger to their lives than the natural weight
they had thought was unbecoming.
Shortcuts have consequence. A critical look at it
would attest to the fact that it's this reason that
governments at all levels in Nigeria have not gotten
anything right. They implement policies that are not
formidably executed; they read yearly budget that do
not commensurate with the on ground works, and so
on. Due of leadership shortage in Nigeria, many
things are now worse, than any emergency approach
given them.
Gaining influence is just the meaning of leadership
and not, showing of influence. Many Nigerians do not
think about the next step to take in order to uplift
humanity here, but the next exotic car to paint the
street red, the next mansion to build in order to
intimidate the next neighbour, the next holiday
picture to post online in order to compel family and
friends to begin to bite their fingers.
Those the leaders want to cheer them are hungry and
many do not even have hope of where their next
meal would come from, where money for their next
house rent would be raised from. What some of these
leaders define as leadership is just the addiction of
showing their wealth to their hapless followership, as
if they are employees working very hard for
promotions.
While they want the financially poor masses to be
promoting them, the only agenda they have for
them, are those intimidating outings they make for
the poor to be lavishly glaring at and admiring them,
without a twinge of conscience of where they placed
the poor in life. Their acquisitions mean a lot to them
and not, the welfares of the subjugated masses.
Leadership shortage has made many Nigerians to be
sitting on the bare ground today. The leaders want
the led to see Nigeria as a country that should mean
a lot, without them leaders seeing the poor to mean
anything to them. Rarely is there any opportunity
that would enhance the growth of the poor individual
like it is wont in the so-called developed world, where
the level of opportunities to school appropriates the
level of corruption in Nigeria.
In Nigeria, many people's understanding of the
concept of "God" is just political. They use 'God bless
you' in order to make people accept them as godly
people, whereas they find blessing anybody really
good somewhat hard thing to do. Apart from their
gallery of wealth, the next thing they so much show
in the public is "God". They do not have a more
realistic view of theirselves. They see the act of
leadership as a correlation between wealth and
amassing of it; not a relationship between leading
and the masses.
Because leadership has been assumed to be the
position of those with much wealth, the poor would
no longer guarantee self as one capable of being a
leader. The poor has been so much intimidated by
the rich to always believe that leadership has a
residence with those that call the shots in the
society. This is a widely misunderstood fact.
Leadership is not a position, but an activity, not like
the idea that the highest bidder goes with the prize,
but an act of showing comprehensive examples for
others to follow in the promotion of humanity and
not, when there is something that has to do with
politics and business alone.
Perhaps, this could be the reason a Vikas Swarup, the
author of The Accidental Apprentice (and Slumdog
Millionaire), was quoted as saying: "Leadership is the
one competency that cannot be learnt in
management school. A manager is trained to do
things right; a leader does the right things. It is not a
matter of training and preparation, but one of
instinct and conscience."
Therefore, the conscience of leadership has to be
reborn; not the everyday reborn of titles and
showing-off of acquisitions. Nigerians at all level
must make the citizenry better by eschewing the
love to obsequiousness. It is a killing behaviour,
when anyone sees the promotion of exotic cars as
leadership or those who purchase such cars for the
simple purpose to intimidate others as leaders.
It is time Nigerians began to see these types of
leaders who do nothing but to exhibit their numerous
wealth as persons who have limited contributions to
make for the wellbeing of Nigeria. Remove those
material items from them and be amazed how empty
they are. Everybody can have positive impact and
become a leader. Against this backdrop, leadership
must be seen as an art for influencing another in
direction for the wellbeing of the society and not, for
the individual buttering. We must take the advise by
a John Izzo, PhD, whose write-ups suggest that
Leadership is not about what your business card
says, what your title is, or where you sit on the
organizational chart in your company. Leadership is a
posture, it is a decision that you want to have
influence over others in a positive way.

APC Party Hails Obasanjo For Ignoring Jonathan’s Letter, Calls GEJ’s Response Indecent

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the
presidency has been greatly diminished by its
decision to throw decorum to the wind and engage
former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a hot
exchange of words in what may now be described as
'lettergate', the latest in a series of scandals to hit
the Jonathan presidency.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its
National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,
the party said while it is not interested in joining the
fray over the issues contained in the letters written
by both men, the decision by the President to go
personal in his reaction crossed the threshold of
decency and brought the presidency – and indeed
the country – into disrepute.
It said in other climes, the President would have
simply issued a terse response to such a letter
denying the allegations that border on national
security, if any; as well as saying the former
President's observations have been noted, and that
the government would study them and then engage
with the former President in private, while assuring
that the ship of state is on course.
"Instead, the President's response read like the stuff
of gossip magazines, and the exchange of words felt
like what one would have expected in a beer parlour.
At the end of the day, the Presidency allowed
Obasanjo to take the higher moral ground by simply
insisting on the allegations he made in his letter and
saying he would not respond to the presidency's
reply
"The President, who accused Obasanjo of doing him a
great injustice, has himself done a great injustice to
the Presidency, which is an institution in which he is
only a tenant. In the end, the President of Africa's
most populous nation, the leader of the foremost
black nation on earth and the Commander-in-Chief of
the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
simply desecrated his own presidency and allowed
those who can only be likened to gravy train
passengers, rascals and knaves to seize the initiative
from him.
"This is what happens when a President is
surrounded by self-serving, boot-licking and
dishonest people, at the expense of seasoned
technocrats and veteran policymakers, who would
have reminded the President that while critics can
afford to fire all sorts of darts at him, as the
custodian of the presidency at this point in time, he
cannot afford to respond in kind because, in doing so,
he would be debasing the presidency as an
institution," APC said.

2 Sick Nigerian Students Died At The Same Hospital In Ukraine Of Doctor’s Neglect

Two Nigerian University students have died in
Ukraine over what sources called medical
negligence. The two students died one week apart
after their situation got worse at the same hospital
in Ukraine this month.
Here is a detail press release on the two:
The entire Nigerian student community in Donetsk,
Ukraine, has been in state of mourning since last
week due to the sudden death of two of us.
While we mourn our dead, it has however been
painful to watch the Ukrainian media portray a totally
untrue account of what actually happened to the two
Nigerians who died.
Laolu Oresanya Teresa was a third year Electrical
Engineering student of Donetsk National Technical
University. She was admitted to the hospital on
December 8, and was diagnosed by the doctors of
having acute anaemia. Immediately after the
diagnosis, money was paid to the hospital for the
treatment that might be required. Oddly, the doctors
never commenced serious treatment till December
12, saying she was under some medication and they
were monitoring her.
The next day, December 13, the news came that her
situation was critical and she has been moved to the
intensive care unit, where she later passed on at
around 7:p.m. So the issue of not having money as
painted in the Ukrainian media is not true. What is
even more annoying and embarrassing is that the
result of the diagnosis and that of the autopsy were
opposite. Why the autopsy result indicated that she
died of Sepsis, the doctors' diagnosis claimed she
died of acute anaemia.
As for the second deceased, Obede Ogbu, he was a
postgraduate Electrical Engineering student of
Donetsk National Technical University. He died on
December 18; his case was one of total neglect by
the doctors. According to the doctors on duty, he was
suffering from cardiac arrest; rather than give him
the urgent attention needed, they abandoned him.
When we tried to enquire why no attention was given
to him, the doctors responded by saying we should
give them five minute to smoke cigarette.
When the situation became critical and a nurse
rushed to call the doctors, it was too late for Obede
Ogbu. The question many of us have continued to
ask since then is whether the Ukrainian doctors
would have left their own citizens in critical condition
to smoke for five minutes. Would they have treated
fellow European or Russian citizens the same way?
There is no need for the Ukrainian media to twist the
story, because neither our embassy in Kiev nor the
federal government cares if we all perish in the
hospital. The entire Nigerian students in Donetsk
must be commended for having the courage to come
out in large numbers to protest the uncaring attitude
of Ukrainian doctors to Africans. Though we know
nothing would be done to remedy the situation, at
least, the truth deserves to be told.

National Technical University, Ukraine]

Dethroned Akure King Who Beats Wife To Death Adepoju Adesina Begs Mimiko

The deposed former Deji of Akure Kingdom,
Oluwadare Adepoju Adesina, has written an
emotional letter of consideration to the Ondo state
government to reinstate him as the paramount ruler.
Mr. Adepoju was deposed the media revealed his
battery of his wife, Olori Bolanle, in May 2010. His
battered wife took ill and subsequently died in July
2011. Mr. Adepoju then relocated to the United
Kingdom.
In the letter, obtained exclusively by
SaharaReporters through his lawyer, Barrister
Olusola Oke, the deposed Deji appealed to Governor
Olusegun Mimiko, for whom he claimed to have
worked tirelessly during his election campaign, to
consider his plea.
"I must passionately plead with your Excellence to
remember how well I stood behind you and fought
with you towards ensuring that you won the election
and to ensure that you also recovered your stolen
mandate," he said.
Recounting how he was deposed from the town
because he allegedly poured a concoction on his
estranged late wife, Olori Bola Adepoju Adesina, he
said the avoidable communication gap was the
reason behind the widely-reported incident.
Late
Olori Bolanle
He claimed that the escalated fracas between him
and the late Olori was misconstrued by the press
which, he also alleged, refused to report his own
version of the story.
Dr Ige Ogunleye, the Chairman of the Osupa Ruling
house which Adesina hails from, confirmed receipt of
the letter, but he declined further comment.
Many sources in the ruling house disclosed that the
letter comes at an important time, as the Deji throne
is vacant. SaharaReporters had earlier gathered from
a kingmaker in the palace that the Osupa Ruling
House is the next family to present candidates for
the throne.
We also learnt that chiefs in Akure will this week
complete traditional rites for the late Oba Adebiyi
Adegboye Adesida. A source revealed that the
daughter of the deceased, Princess Adetutu, is
expected to be installed as Regent of Akure pending
the emergence of a new king.
The palace source told our reporter that the belated
installation was on account of family exigencies.
"The issue is that Princess Adetutu was nursing her
baby when the sudden death of her father was
pronounced. But immediately after the whole rites
she might will be installed as the regent of the
kingdom this week or early in the New Year," the
source said.
But an aide to the Lisa of Akure, High Chief James
Olusoga, told SaharaReporters in a phone interview
that the traditional rites would be completed with the
installation of a regent, most likely between
Christmas and the New Year festival period.
With just 23 days since the death of Adebiyi Adesida,
the jostling for the throne has begun at a frantic
pace, with members of the Osupa Ruling House
lobbying kingmakers for the vacant sit.
While some seem to favour the return of the deposed
Adesina to the throne, others object, fearing
victimisation should he re-emerge the king.
In the letter, however, the former and perhaps future
Deji seems to have leant his lessons of his
experience and reconciled with those who worked
against him.
Dated December 19, it was addressed to Governor
Olusegun Mimiko through his Commissioner for
Justice and Attorney General, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
It was copied to the Deputy Governor, Ali Olanusi; the
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Samuel
Adesina; the State Chief Judge, Sehinde Kumuyi;
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy
Affairs, Bamiduro Dada; and the Akure Council of
Chiefs through Lisa of Akure, High Chief James
Olusoga.

Amaechi Turns Preacher: “Jesus Christ Made Me A Governor After 10 Months Of Prayer & Fasting”

Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi gave a
very long message while addressing masses at Saint
Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Port Harcourt on
Christmas day, Wed December 25, 2013.
While addressing the increased violence in the Rivers
State, Amaechi said the growing insecurity was
caused by police officials' biasness when dealing with
civilians.
He also said he was installed by Jesus Christ as the
governor of Rivers State. Amaechi urged people to
ignore claims that some politicians installed him as
the governor.
Hear Amaechi in his own words below:
"As a government led by me, a government installed
by Christ, if anybody tells you he installed me, tell
him it is a lie. Tell him that I said I prayed for 10
months and I fasted from 6am to 6pm, calling on
Christ to come down and Christ came down mightily
and installed me as governor.
"That is why you can see that in the face of human
effortery, I have been able to stand face to face with
them and I say I have Christ in me.
"You must rise in that same spirit of having Christ in
you and confront those who are confronting you. You
must stand up for Christ because the Bible says 'faith
without work is dead.'
"We must not die. We must live and the way to live is
to celebrate Christ and the way to celebrate Christ is
to confront Satan and Satan is in different forms and
shapes.
"If the police shoot at you, they are satanic. If
government denies you your right to live, that
government is satanic" .
"All these you may want to attribute to political
disagreement in Rivers State; but it is not true. It is
simply because of those who lead us in Abuja;
because the police is an establishment of the Federal
Government and they have refused to curb the
excesses of the police.
"Instead of the police to chase away criminals, they
are shooting at innocent citizens. Don't stop at
praying. We knew we prayed, but as you pray, you
must rise on your feet and confront the challenges of
insecurity."
What is political message doing inside church on
Christmas day? These politicians have become
something else I tell you.

Christmas Day Car Accidents In Lagos & Cross River State Killed 9

Wednesday December 25th, 2013 was a bloody day
in Cross Rivers and Lagos state as multiple motor
accidents claimed the lives of over 9 people.
On Wednesday, 5 people including a baby died in
Lagos while 4 others died in an auto accident in Cross
River State.
According to Punch Metro, a woman suffered serious
injury after an articulated truck fell on a commercial
bus on Alaba Suru Road in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun area
of Lagos yesterday.
The fatal car accident that killed the baby and 4 other
people happened while they were returning from
Lagos Island.
It was said the two brothers went to purchase
bangers for the New Year celebration.
The crash was said to have been caused by a
mentally unstable woman, who laid in the middle of
the road, thereby creating confusion for the truck
driver who was on top speed.
Eyewitnesses told PUNCH Metro that the yellow LT
bus, with number plate, MUS-975-XC, had also
stopped by the side of the road to drop off a
passenger, which precipitated the accident.
A resident, Mohammed Wasiu, said, "The incident
happened around 8.30am. I saw the mad woman
walking around this morning. She just decided to
sleep on the road at that time.
"The LT bus was going towards Mile 2. There were
about eight people in the bus. The driver decided to
stop because someone wanted to get down from the
bus.
"As this was going on, the truck was coming on full
speed. There were two trucks; one was already
ahead, so the second truck driver wanted to catch up.
"When he got to that point and saw the mad woman
on the road, he wanted to avoid crushing her. As he
maneuvered the truck, its side hit the bus, and the
container fell on the bus."
Wasiu said residents immediately rushed to the
scene and began to cut the vehicle with saws in order
to save the occupants who were in pain.
Another eyewitness, who did not identify himself,
said, "The two brothers who were at the back of the
bus were trapped. They had packs of bangers that
they just bought. The woman, who wore a shawl, and
was carrying a baby, could not also escape. They all
died, including the driver.
"It was only a lady that was at the entrance to the
door that escaped with a fracture."
After the accident, angry residents were said to have
seized the mentally unstable lady and beaten her up.
Some of the residents said it was the second time
she would trigger such accident. She was, however,
rescued by policemen.
At the rescue operation scene were officials of the
National Emergency Management Agency, Federal
Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management
Agency, policemen, and the Lagos State Emergency
Medical Services.
The NEMA spokesperson, South-West Zone, Ibrahim
Farinloye said, "The incident happened at 8.30am,
but we were not alerted till around 11.46am. NEMA
was able to mobilise other rescue officials to the
scene. At the end of the rescue operation, a woman
and her baby with two men died, while a lady was
rescued alive. She however had a fractured leg. The
corpses have been taken to a mortuary in Oshodi."
The police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State, Ngozi
Braide, said she would call back to give details on the
accident.

incident claimed four lives on the spot while several
others were injured.

several others, who sustained injuries, were taken to
the hospital for medical attention.
"We were informed that the driver and the conductor

Christmas Eve Armed Robbery In Florida: Fake Santa Robbed Bank

Police officials in Port Orange Florida are currently
investigating a bizarre armed robbery case.
A man dressed in Santa Claus outfit robbed a
SunTrust Bank in Florida around 3:13pm on
Christmas Eve. The fake Santa passed a note to the
teller demanding money. He carried a gift-wrapped
package in the bank around 3:13pm. He insinuated
that the parcel was harmful, said Assistant Chief of
Police Wayne Miller.
After getting the cash, the suspect left the package
on the counter and walked out. He was seen fleeing
in a dark-colored vehicle.
The bank was immediately evacuated and the
Volusia County bomb squad determined that the
package wasn't an explosive device, Miller said.
The holiday getup is the first one Miller said he's
seen a robber wear.
"We usually see costumes worn during Halloween,
but I've been here 29 years and I can't recall
something like this," he added.
Santa-like costumes have been used as holiday
disguises in other bank robberies across the country.
This month, an armed robber wearing a Santa hat
and shades held up a Bank of America in Dundee,
Mich., while a man in a dirty gray beard robbed a PNC
Bank on Saturday in Laurel, Md.
PNC tellers described him as a criminal Kris Kringle,
although local cops said he could have been
disguised as someone from the reality show, "Duck
Dynasty."
The SunTrust Bank suspect is described as a white
male, 6-foot, with a medium build. Anyone with
information is asked to call Port Orange detectives at
386-506-5895.

Drunk Nigerian Soldiers On Beating Spree In Abuja

Disaster struck at the popular Mararaba market in
Abuja on Tuesday as some suspected drunk
Nigerian soldiers descended on unarmed civilians
inflicting all sort of injuries on them using horsewhip.
According to an eyewitness, the allegedly drunk
soldiers went on rampage, beating anyone in sight at
the popular market.
Their plan was to disperse roadside sellers but they
ended up beating everyone across their path.
The beating spree we learnt caused serious traffic
jam on Abuja-Keffi Road on Tuesday due to the high
number of people shopping for the Christmas
celebration.
"They (soldiers) beat anyone in sight. They did not
even care if you have a baby strapped to your back or
not. Is it an offence to make use of a pedestrian
bridge as a law abiding citizen? I went to the main
market to buy food items for my family with my
youngest daughter on my back. It was an ugly
scene." – said an eye witness
"They beat us to the extent that people started
falling on themselves. In the process of escaping
from their horsewhip, I fell down and hurt my hand. I
sustained an injury in the process. But the number of
crowd running for safety made me to quickly get up
and looked for an escape route. Here I am nursing my
injury for no fault of mine. "The soldiers did not even
give notice at all. They took everybody by surprise. -
said a student
This is gross injustice, why can't the Federal
Government deploy these jobless soldiers to Borno
state to battle Boko Haram.
